Prophecies vs Factions
Hello there. I currently own only Nightfall, and I'm considering purchasing one of the other chapters. So I was wondering which is generally a better choice. My main focus would be getting more skills for builds and making money (probably by farming). I'm not wholly concerned with having access to Ritualists or Assassins, which is why I'm drifting toward Prophecies.
Your input is appreciated. |

factions> proph
if you like fast levelling then go with factions, otherwise proph would be a good choice. all in all, i recomend, if possible, to get both of them. |

In Prophs you earn many skills by doing quests. In Factions you have to buy most of them. If your main goal is to get both skills and gold, Prophs is a no-brainer.
Plus, in case no one mentioned it, Prophs> Factions. There's been a bunch of Proph vs Factions threads and Proph seems preferred by at least 80% of players. |

Factions > Prophecies
Hey, it's all about what you like. Characters level up faster in Factions and the game is geared more towards PvP. I find the storyline is interesting and the environments quite unique (no other GW has a full multi-layered city yet). Prophecies has slower leveling up, but there are way more areas and missions to do, and you get tons of basic skills free from doing quests. Also, you don't have to do missions in order to progress in the game - there are no annoying gateway missions or blocks to stop you from skipping most of the storyline by running past key points. |

Prophecies >>>factions.
You can gain an aweful lot of good skills just by doing quests, instead of spending hard earned gold & skill points in factions. In either game there are plenty of farming areas, so that's a wash. The storyline in factions sucks, the one in Prophecies is pretty good, but not as good the Nightfall story. |

The question is, are you going to move your existing characters over, or do you want to start up new ones and move them through the campaign quicker. If you plan on taking your time, then go with Prophecies. If you want to rush through, then go with Factions. People can post all they want about how they LIKED Prophecies more than Factions without offering any reasons behind their choice, but both chapters offer different options for players.

Prophecies
I also agree with the most of you, that Prophecies is better, I never played it, but from what I've heard and seen.
But Factions is better if you are more into PvP and that stuff, I'm more a RP player, so I think that Prophecies is better, but when you are into PvP, then it's no suprise you choose for Factions. I only play Nightfall, today is my first day, so I could be wrong. |

I would tend to drift more towards Prophecies, but following is a list of pros and cons for both.
>Factions leveling time is much quicker >Prophecies is much longer(25 missions vs 13 for Factions) >In Factions you pay for all skills period; Prophecies lets you gain the majority of them through quests >Prophecies is geared for PvE, Factions is much heavier towards the PvP aspect of the game. (which is why it is much shorter) >Factions has closed doors so you're forced to play the game all the way through; whereas in Prophecies you can be ran almost anywhere. I highly suggest that you at least finish Prophecies once without being ran anywhere though, or you'll lose out on the experience. Hope I helped |

Prophecies is the original (aka just plain "Guild Wars"), and the original is usually the best.
Both are good in their own ways. Prophecies is superior in storyline and roleplaying, Factions is superior in PvP. Prophecies is also longer. However, as the others have said, Factions is shorter mainly because of its competitive nature. As an example, Factions tries to rush you through the game and the "noob stage", such as letting you buy skills and stuff. In Prophecies, you have a whole "noob stage" world to yourself where you can learn the basics and things like that. Part of the Factions storyline is also in relation to the Prophecies one (or at least, you meet with some old friends from Prophecies, one of which is the reason you go to Cantha, the Factions continent). Personally though, even if you are more of a PvP player, get Prophecies. |

Prophecies for skills. Factions for farming. IMO obviously, and I by far prefer Factions. Again though it depends on your style - I'm PvE only but I still have a full time job and a lot of other stuff going on, and I enjoyed that Factions didn't require me to play insane amounts of time to get through it.

Factions > Prophecies.
It has more polish, better graphics (environments), and faster progression. More exciting and challenging gameplay. It also has a ton of great PvP options. Mostly, Prophecies is just so easy and BOOOORING. Take it from me, I also started with Nightfall. I played through Nightfall first, Prophecies second, and Factions last. Factions is my absolute favorite. |
